Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) is a component of Better Outcomes In Mental Health Care (BOIMHC) and provides funding for General Practitioners to refer patients who have been diagnosed as having a mental health disorder, to an Allied Health Professional to provide low cost, focussed psychological strategies. ATAPS is intended to target the treatment of high prevalence mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. The role of the ATAPS funding is to focus on service gaps and populations not well serviced by other mental health programs, as opposed to providing services to a broad population.
