The Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) forms a part of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. OATSIH aims to improve the access of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to comprehensive primary health care services, by providing co-ordinated clinical care, population health and health promotion activities, early intervention and effective disease management.
The three focal components are: improved access to mainstream health system, complementary action through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and substance abuse services, and collaboration between governments and the health sector.
