The majority of Allied Health Professionals employed by the division are currently operating with Right to Private Practice. The rationale for encouraging the establishment of Private Allied Health services is to ensure the long term sustainability of these services in rural communities by utilising all available funding options and thus increasing access for the community. Clients who access Private services are able to claim rebates through their private health insurer depending on their level of cover, and a Hicaps machine is available at the Emerald office. In addition to this the Commonwealth Government has placed a greater emphasis on ensuring the sustainability of services by providing options for Medicare to fund services. In order to receive Medicare funded Allied Health Services a referral and multidisciplinary care plan must be initiated by the GP. For further information regarding fee schedules please contact the appropriate Allied Health Professional.
