The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program is a joint Commonwealth, State and Territory initiative. It funds basic maintenance and support services to help frail older people and younger people with disabilities to continue living in their community.
The role of HACC allied health professionals is to help clients and their carers function to the best of their ability at home and in the community. Allied health services assist clients to maintain or resume their normal activities, participate in their community and enjoy life again.
Assistance and support is targeted at all HACC- eligible people in need of allied health services, regardless of their ethnic background or language spoken.
The HACC program recognises the following allied health disciplines:
1. Physiotherapy
2. Occupational Therapy
3. Speech Pathology
4. Dietetics
5. Social Work
6. Psychology
7. Podiatry
