The Division receives funding from Queensland Health for the following five positions:
* Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator – Moranbah
* Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator – Central Highlands
* Alcohol and Drug Clinical Worker – Central Highlands
* Indigenous Young Parents Support Worker – Woorabinda (2 positions)
The Program Coordinator (Healthy Lifestyle) positions use a secondary prevention approach that targets Queenslanders who are already overweight/obese or are at risk of becoming so. These positions also support whole of population primary prevention programs related to overweight and obesity prevention in accordance with Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005-2015 (QSCD) and Eat Well Queensland 2002 – 2010: Smart Eating for a Healthier State (EWQ).
Through the Alcohol and Drug Clinical Worker position, the Division provides a variety of evidence-based activities that are related to the treatment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and/or dependence.
The work undertaken by the Indigenous Young Parents Support Worker positions is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people during the antenatal, birthing, postnatal and parenting periods as determined by local priorities. The Indigenous Young Parents Support Worker positions work in partnership with Queensland Health to deliver local services which meet the objectives of the state wide health strategies.
